Webfetti.com I don't know about you but I recycle everything. I recycle the plastic bags from the supermarket. I recycle the plastic bags that bread is wrapped in, that noodles are frozen in, that toys are wrapped in. I recycle every type of bottle, can, razor, pop top, you name it, I recycle it. Im not so careful with paper because to me it's biodegradable and you can plant another tree.

But Im also very upset that the government doesn't mandate recycling. With all of the waste that is filling up our landfills, why aren't restaurants mandated to keep recycling bins on premise? And when you see someone who doesn't put out any recyling cans, why not give a fine? If we really need to "create" more money, let's send out spokespeople to public schools and get some student participation. Sometimes lifetimes of habits can be changed by the action of one child, especially when it's ours. Offer rewards for recycling to the school students who are able to sign on their neighbors in the form of a pledge.

And while we're at it, how do you like those people who throw garbage out their car windows. I want to pull them over and give them the "don't you love the earth?" speech. And isn't it so awful to see that garbage floating in the beautiful duck pond at he park where you walk?

Plastic does not disintegrate! Ever noticed how that pamper in the road just keeps getting ran over and never seems to lose it's body. This is what is happening in our landfills.

Everyone must do their part.

Love this Earth. Love our Oceans. Love and Respect Yourself!

Garage Sale Weekend!

I had a very hard and productive weekend. Grandkids on Friday. I had a nap this day and had some energy left for the kids. We took a walk on the Hudson River in Edgewater. Edgewater is centrally located between the George Washington Bridge (my favorite) and the Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan. I took them shoe shopping. Kayla is almost 5 and Seannie has just turned 3. Then we had pizza, half pepperoni and half plain cheese, with a mozzarella and tomatoe salad. There goes my "low fat" plan. But I exercised every day this week, so...

Saturday was my garage sale!? Actually we did quite well. I got up at 7:30 after getting to sleep around 1:30. I felt fairly fresh. My husband got up right away and was ready to help me. He had quite a few "higher ticket" items than mine. He's a plumber so he had 2 sinks, 2 faucets, 2 saws, and some stereo equipment. Well, my beautiful Cuban neighbor Maria came over immediately. She then proceeded to make my day. One of my first sales was $192.00 My husband says "she's smart" and it's true. She made our with items (which we got on sale) that would have cost her around $450.00 wholesale, so she was smart!

I almost got all of my cds back into their jackets and everyone was enjoying the sun and the music and conversation. I loved it actually!

And oh, some helpful hints for garage sale success. By the way we made almost $600 for the day! Yeah, and my advice is buy (wholesale) functional "household" items and mark them up double. If you come down a little, you still win.

Also, enjoy the journey. I had already planned my lunch, which didn't happen soon enough and how I would enjoy the sun. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

Letting go feels good. If you have art or objects which have been around for a while, sell them and buy something new. It's the incentive, to buy something fresh and beautiful. Surround yourself with things you love, but very few things.

BE particular

Love passionately or not at all. Anything done with half a heart is not worth doing!
