I don't know about you but I recycle everything. I recycle the plastic bags from the supermarket. I recycle the plastic bags that bread is wrapped in, that noodles are frozen in, that toys are wrapped in. I recycle every type of bottle, can, razor, pop top, you name it, I recycle it. Im not so careful with paper because to me it's biodegradable and you can plant another tree.
But Im also very upset that the government doesn't mandate recycling. With all of the waste that is filling up our landfills, why aren't restaurants mandated to keep recycling bins on premise? And when you see someone who doesn't put out any recyling cans, why not give a fine? If we really need to "create" more money, let's send out spokespeople to public schools and get some student participation. Sometimes lifetimes of habits can be changed by the action of one child, especially when it's ours. Offer rewards for recycling to the school students who are able to sign on their neighbors in the form of a pledge.
And while we're at it, how do you like those people who throw garbage out their car windows. I want to pull them over and give them the "don't you love the earth?" speech. And isn't it so awful to see that garbage floating in the beautiful duck pond at he park where you walk?
Plastic does not disintegrate! Ever noticed how that pamper in the road just keeps getting ran over and never seems to lose it's body. This is what is happening in our landfills.
Everyone must do their part.
Love this Earth. Love our Oceans. Love and Respect Yourself!
I try to recycle, but the bins that used to be set up in town are now gone. I have always saved the wal-mart bags. Our walmart is the last place in this little town that offers this service. For anyone who goes to yard sales...get an empty papertowel roll and stuff plastic bags inside of it and throw it in your trunk. Anytime you drive by that unexpected sale, you've alway got a bag to put all the new goodies in. This has come in handy serveral times, for more then just rummagin' too. It is very important that everyone tries to do their part in cleaning up the environment. My mother always taught me to clean up after myself. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Holli, Im so glad you recycle also. I just put all the plastics in the car and drop them off at the supermarket when I go shopping.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you can ask that the bins be put back, here we are given one recycle bin per house and they pick them up every other week. This of course is not enough, it should be at least once or twice a week.
We're getting better.
